The highways of Rajasthan have now become dangerous. There has been such a series of road accidents that dozens of people are losing their lives every day. In just four days since the beginning of November, 64 people have died across the state. Whereas 771 people lost their lives in the month of October. From January till now i.e. in the year 2025, a total of 9 thousand 711 people have died in road accidents. The continuously increasing accidents are exposing the traffic system and administrative negligence.

Jaipur The recent horrific accident has shaken the entire state. Here an uncontrolled dumper crushed 40 vehicles, in which 14 people died. Earlier on Sunday, in Phalodi of Jodhpur district, a tempo traveler of devotees returning from the temple collided with a truck parked on the Bharatmala Expressway, in which 15 people lost their lives.

In Alwar too, a Thar vehicle crushed an entire family, resulting in the death of four people. Similarly, in Jaisalmer, a sleeper bus turned into a ball of fire, in which 26 passengers died tragically.

Increasing figures question the government

The graph of road accidents is continuously increasing. Government figures are scary – 872 deaths in January, 1 thousand 785 in February, 993 in March, 972 in April, 1 thousand 33 in May, 862 in June, 767 in July, 808 in August, 784 in September, 771 in October and 64 deaths have been recorded in the first four days of November alone. There are still two months left for the year to end, but the death toll has already crossed 9 thousand 700.

Most accidents on PWD roads

The biggest reason for road accidents in Rajasthan is bad roads and careless driving. So far in the year 2025, 1 thousand 445 road accidents have taken place, out of which maximum 429 accidents took place on PWD roads. Apart from this, 352 accidents were recorded on National Highway, 50 accidents on RIDCOR roads, 126 accidents on PWD National Highway, 111 accidents on Municipal Corporation roads, 30 accidents on RSRDC roads and 17 accidents on urban roads.

Rajasthan ranked sixth in the country

Rajasthan has become the sixth most dangerous state in the country in terms of road accidents. According to the report of the Road Transport Ministry, Rajasthan comes after Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra. Rajasthan ranks seventh in terms of deaths, where on an average 10 thousand people die in road accidents every year. These incidents have raised serious questions on both the traffic system and law and order of the state.

Major accidents of October-November

November 3 (Jaipur) A speeding truck crushed 40 vehicles, 14 died. November 2 (Phalodi) Devotees returning from religious pilgrimage collided with a truck, 15 killed. November 1 (Alwar) Thar crushed five people, four died. 31 October (Phalodi): 16 people were hit by a dumper on Bikaner Highway, four died and 12 were injured. October 24 (Jaipur): Bus hit by high tension line, two killed, 13 injured. 19 October (Barmer) Trailer-Scorpio collided, four burnt to death. October 14 (Jaisalmer): Fire broke out in a sleeper bus, 28 people died. 13 August (Dausa) Pickup of devotees returning from Khatu Shyam Darshan collided with a container, 11 dead. 13 September (Jaipur) A speeding car overturned on the Ring Road, many dead.

Government’s clarification and public’s questions

Rajasthan’s UDH minister Jhabar Singh Kharra says that the government is making continuous efforts to prevent road accidents. He says that as roads are getting better, people have started becoming careless while driving. He admitted that drivers are driving under the influence of alcohol, due to which accidents are increasing. The government is now planning to make drivers aware through a checking campaign.
