India has lost in the second ODI against Australia. Australia has taken a 2-0 lead in the series by winning by two wickets. In this match played at Adelaide Oval, the Indian team tried to make a comeback. Australian bowlers troubled the Indian batsmen.

In the match, Australia captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and decided to bowl first. The fast bowling trio of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Xavier Bartlett troubled the Indian top order right from the start. Captain Shubman Gill returned to the pavilion early, while Virat Kohli was once again out without opening the account. Rohit Sharma withstood the initial setbacks and took charge of the team by scoring 73 runs. He along with Shreyas Iyer made an important partnership of 118 runs for the third wicket. Starc dismissed Rohit after scoring 73 runs in 96 balls. Shreyas Iyer scored 61 runs in 77 balls, but Adam Zampa gave a big blow to India by dismissing him and KL Rahul in quick succession. Akshar Patel added some runs, but he did not get support from Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy.
After the dismissal of Shreyas Iyer, the Indian team’s momentum broke and the team was struggling at 226/8. But, in the end, Harshit Rana (24 runs, 18 balls) and Arshdeep Singh (13 runs, 14 balls) made a fighting partnership of 37 runs for the ninth wicket, taking India to the score of 264/9 in 50 overs. For Australia, Adam Zampa took 4 wickets for 60 runs, Bartlett took 3 wickets for 39 runs and Starc took 2 wickets for 62 runs. Hazlewood gave only 29 runs in 10 overs and could not take any wicket.
Australia got off to a slow start. Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh started playing cautiously, but Marsh was out early. After this, Harshit Rana sent the head to the pavilion. Matt Short and Matthew Renshaw handled the innings by hitting some good shots. Taking advantage of the mistakes made in Indian fielding, Short completed his half-century after getting life twice. After Short’s dismissal, Mitchell Owen tried to score quickly, while Cooper Connelly, playing like an experienced player, scored his first ODI half-century. Despite the early dismissals of Xavier Bartlett and Owen, Connelly led Australia to victory.

This defeat is a big blow for India, especially when they were performing well in ODIs. The Indian batsmen struggled against the Australian bowlers, especially in the beginning. However, the lower order batsmen added some runs in the end to take the team to a respectable score. The Indian team also got some chances in bowling, but mistakes in fielding kept Australia in the match. Australia played brilliantly under pressure and won the series.
