Bidar: The Karnataka Rajyotsava Award for the year 2025-26 by the Kannada and Culture Department of the state government has been announced and Madiwaliya Sali has been selected for the award in the “Music” category.
Madivalayya Sali to Sivalingaiah and Tejamma couple. Born on 21st, 1955 in Allur village of Humanabad taluk. After graduating with BA from Sharan Basaveshwar College, Gulbarga, he retired from working as Gram Panchayat Development Officer of Thyagarthi Gram Panchayat, Sagar Taluk, Shimoga District.
Madiwaliya Sali received his primary tabla education at the age of 11 from Chandrappa Panchal and Sidramappa Allur of his native village Allur and further education from Pandit KS Hadapada, a disciple of Pandit Anokhilal Mishra, a renowned Indian musician. Hyderabad Pt. Nandakumar of Benares, Pt. Manilal Mishra, Dharwad Pt. Basavaraj was trained and guided by gurus like Bendigeri.
His tabla art was recognized by him as ‘Tabala Sadhaka’ award from Swara Madhuri Sangeet Vidyalaya, Kalaburagi, ‘Namma Sadhakaru’ award from Bangalore Sangeet Nritya Academy, ‘Basava Kala Ratna’ award from Bhatambra Sansthan Math, and prestigious ‘P.K.S.’ from Guru Puttaraja Sangeet Sabha, Mysore. He was honored with ‘Hadapada’ award.
At present, he is residing in Humanaba and is living a retired life. Apart from this, he is working as Tabla Guest Lecturer at Pt. Panchakshara Gawai Sangeet Vidyalaya in Bidar. 210 students of Tejeswini Tabla Vidyalaya in Sagar taluk of Shimoga district are giving free tabla education for 3 days in a month. It is also known that he offers his tabla instrument free of cost in any event.
