Kottayam: Audit report says there is a serious failure in keeping the land of temples under the Travancore Devaswom Board. Even the land in Thiruvananthapuram city does not belong to the board as per the document. The Estates Division, which was set up to protect land, failed to prepare a land register. Serious irregularities were found in the 2020-21 audit of the Basic Land Registry in various group offices.
The board’s analysis had earlier confirmed that 500 acres of the board’s own 2700 acres had been lost. Prayar Gopalakrishnan initiated the mission to find and recover the land records during his presidency but did not proceed.
