Vicky Kaushal starrer film Chhava has created history in terms of earnings. The film has so far crossed the Rs 500 crore mark at the Indian box office. With this, it has become the first such film in the year 2025, which has achieved this figure in just 23 days of release. While the Worldwide film grossed 691 crores.
Chhawa joined 500 crore club
According to Caiknilk, the Hindi version of the film ‘Chhava’ earned Rs 503.3 crore. While Telugu dubbed version collected a collection of Rs 5.5 crore. After this, the Indian has done a business of Rs 509.05 crore at the box office.
The film earned 6.30 crores on the 22nd day
On the 22nd day of the film, on Friday, trade analyst Taran Adarsh gave information about the latest collection of the watch through a post on Instagram handle. According to him, the film grossed 6.30 crores on Friday i.e. 22nd. After which the collection of Chhava in India increased to Rs 502.70 crore.

Shah Rukh’s film Pathan-Jawan can beat
Along with this, Chhawa has become one of those films who did a business of 500 crores in India. This list includes films like ‘Pushpa 2’ (Hindi version), ‘Jawan’, ‘Stree 2’, ‘Gadar 2’, ‘Pathan’, ‘Bahubali 2’ (Hindi version) and Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’. The film Chhava, directed by Laxman Utekar, was also released in theaters in Telugu language on March 7. On the first day, the film collected a collection of 2.63 crores.

Now the chhawa is moving slowly towards breaking the box office records of films like Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan-Pathan, Shraddha Kapoor-Rajkumar Rao’s Stree 2 and Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal.

In February, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also praised Vicky’s film Chhava. Speaking at the 98th All India Marathi Sahitya Sammelan in New Delhi, the PM appreciated the contribution of Maharashtra in both Marathi and Hindi cinema.

Camps were in controversy since the trailer release
There have also been controversies about the film Chhawa. The trailer of the film was released on 22 January. In this trailer, Vicky Kaushal, who played the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, was shown dancing, which enraged many people. On this issue, former Rajya Sabha MP Sambhaji Raje Chhatrapati had expressed displeasure and said that it is very wrong to show Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj while dancing. It is still fine to show them to play lezim, but they are shown dancing.

Allegations of tampering of facts
Film makers were also accused of incorrectly presenting the facts related to history. It was alleged that two characters named Ganoji and Kanhoji were incorrectly introduced in the film Chhava. Ganoji and Kanhoji, Sambhaji Maharaj are shown to be cheated and meet with Aurangzeb. The descendants of Ganoji Shirke and Kanhoji Shirke have opposed the film.

According to media reports, director Laxman Utekar met Bhushan Shirke, one of the descendants of the Shirke family after receiving the notice. He apologized and said that we have taken great care of the facts related to history in the film. The names of the village of Ganoji and Kanhoji have not been mentioned.
The director said- Our intention was not to hurt the Shirke family. If there is any problem with the film ‘Chhava’, then I apologize for this.

The film Chhawa stars Vicky Kaushal Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Rashmika Mandana as his wife Maharani Yesubai. The film is an adoptation of writer Shivaji Sawant’s novel Chhava. The film is directed by Laxman Utekar, while it is produced by Madock Film and Dinesh Vision. Apart from Vicky and Rashmika, the film also stars Akshaye Khanna, Divya Dutta, Ashutosh Rana, Diana Penty in important roles. The film was released in theaters on 14 February.
