The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of Vidarbha over the next 24 to 48 hours, with an orange alert issued for Chandrapur and Gadchiroli districts.
After a brief lull in cloud activity over East Vidarbha, the IMD now expects intense showers, as thick cloud cover builds up again. The forecast indicates that Nagpur, Bhandara, Wardha, and Amravati are also likely to receive very heavy rainfall in the coming days.
According to the IMD, July 8 is expected to bring continued downpours accompanied by lightning and thunder in Nagpur, Amravati, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli, and citizens have been advised to remain cautious.
Meanwhile, Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar have been placed under a yellow alert, with a heavy rainfall warning in place until July 9.
Rain activity had weakened over East Vidarbha for the past two days. However, Chandrapur experienced intense rainfall until Sunday morning, while Gondia saw scattered light showers. Light drizzles were also reported in Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, and Gadchiroli.
In West Vidarbha, some districts recorded significant precipitation. Akola received 30 mm, Amravati measured 10.6 mm, and Yavatmal registered 15.5 mm overnight and an additional 18 mm during the day on Sunday. Buldhana saw notable showers as well, logging 21 mm of rainfall.
