The most recent rumor circulating now says that yes, Johnny Depp will once again play Captain Jack Sparrowbut only in a supporting role capacity.
I have no idea if this is part of the supposedly still green-lit Margo Robbie, all-female, pirate crew or the other film that is also said to be still green-lit.
In most of the films, Captain Jack Sparrow, was one of the leads or a supporting character. Hopefully, if this rumor is true, he will be utilized in a similar way.
