School Holiday News: Heavy rainfall and flood-like conditions across parts of the country have forced district administrations in multiple states to announce temporary closure of schools. Citing weather department alerts and student safety, officials have ordered schools to remain shut in several districts across states.
List Of States/Districts Where Schools Will Stay Closed
Rajasthan (jaipur):
In Jaipur, the district administration has declared a two-day closure for all government and private schools as well as Anganwadi centres on August 25 and 26, 2025, following a red alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The order applies to students from pre-primary to Class 12. However, teachers and staff have been instructed to report to schools. District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni has directed strict compliance and warned that violations will invite action under the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
Uttar pradesh (banda):
In Banda, continuous rainfall has led to the closure of all schools up to Class 8 on August 25, 2025. District authorities have instructed the Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) to ensure compliance across council, recognised, and board schools.

Uttarakhand (Multiple Districts):
Several districts in Uttarakhand, including Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Bageshwar, Dehradun, and Nainital, have announced school closures on August 25, 2025. The orders cover both government and private schools as well as Anganwadi centres, extending to students from Class 1 to 12. District officials said the decision was taken after IMD warnings of heavy rainfall, prioritising the safety of children.
With red alerts and forecasts of more downpours, authorities have urged parents and students to remain cautious. Further decisions on reopening schools will depend on weather conditions in the coming days.
