Ghum hai kisikey pyaar meiin makers have brought yet another big leap in the show. They have changed the plot and cast of the show. Ghkpm will now star Param Singh, Sanam johar and Vaibhavi haankare in the lead roles. The show’s promo was launched by veteran actress Rekha. Notably, the netizens didn’t like the promo and started criticising the new cast promo of Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin. In an exclusive conversation with Zoom/Telly Talk India, Param Singh reacted to the criticism over the new promo and revealed why the audience is right. Excerpts
Tell us about your character in ghum hai kisikey pyaar meiin.
Neel Pradhan is a gynecologist. He is a sober, family-oriented individual based out of Nagpur. He is shown to be shy, honest, kind, humble and righteous individual. It’s a character that I have never played in any medium, and its moral compass is one of my favourite traits.
How does it feel to be introduced by evergreen Rekha ji on the screen?
It felt good to be introduced by a veteran like her and I believe we couldn’t have asked for a better headstart. Rekha ma’am has a strong screen presence and is someone who looks really beautiful. I am glad that she promoted us at large with unbeatable grace.

The promo for your show received a lot of criticism online. How did you react to the initial response?
I think the criticism is towards the fact that the leading pairs have been changed and it’s the admirers of the show or leading couple that are upset about the change. I haven’t really gone through the comments as such, but I feel it’s okay if the people want to judge or have an opinion that’s colourful around the new season. It’s a show they are attached to, and it’s their right to question. I, as an actor, can only work on my role with sincerity.
What are your thoughts on the receptivity of audiences towards television content in India ever since OTT has come to rise?
Receptivity towards any form of content is segregated in my understanding because everyone has their own preferences today. It’s more intent and choice-centric. Some prefer to cling to their love for daily soaps even now; some use television to be aware of the happenings in the world whilst binging on OTT, and some watch it but digitally. The increased accessibility and exposure make it difficult for anyone to engage audiences, I feel, irrespective of medium.

Your character in your previous show, Ishk Par Zor Nahi, was loved by all. If the makers plan to make a sequel of it, would you accept the offer in the future?
Thanks for loving the show. Yes, definitely, I would love to do Ishk Par Zor Nahi season 2 if the opportunity rises.
