Weather Update: The weather has become pleasant due to the 24-hour rains in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Uttarakhand. At the same time, there is a possibility of heavy rains in South Peninsular India for the next 5-6 days. Cyclone ‘Shakti’ has weakened and turned into avidab.

According to the Meteorological Department, rain activities will increase in South Peninsular India for the next 5–6 days. Heavy rainfall may occur at many places in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Rayalaseema. At the same time, there is a possibility of thunderstorms with strong winds (30–40 km/h) in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
‘Shakti’ started to weaken
The horrific cyclonic storm ‘Shakti’ has now weakened and turned into a cyclonic storm. The storm is likely to be weakened by the morning of 7 October and converted into Avadab.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain with electricity on 7 and 8 October in some areas of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Whereas in Vidarbha (Maharashtra), heavy rainfall can be recorded at some places.
Meteorological Department advice for fishermen
Fishermen have been advised not to move to parts of the Arabian Sea and Kerala, Karnataka coasts by 8 October. Farmers have been asked to protect crops from waterlogging in areas with heavy rainfall.
