Amid weather forecast of unseasonal rains in several parts of the state including Narmada district, Narmada district has witnessed a change of weather since early morning today. Cloudy conditions have prevailed since early morning and light rain showers have also been reported at many places. The monsoon rains
.
For the past several days, the district was experiencing a mixed experience of cold in the morning and unbearable heat in the afternoon. Today, the weather has suddenly changed and the cold weather has spread, but this weather has become a cause of concern for the farmers.

According to farmers, this year already heavy rains have caused huge damage to agriculture. Heavy rains washed away expensive seeds and fertilizers, dealing a financial blow to farmers.

At present, the harvesting season of major crops like cotton, tuwer, chilli, pulses, banana and papaya has started in the fields. If unseasonal rain falls on this prepared crop, it may leave the farmers inundated overnight.
Main crops of farmers in Narmada district are banana, sugarcane, cotton, papaya and tuwer. Farmers are already suffering huge losses due to the sudden drop in banana prices this year. Due to erratic weather and heavy rains, the spread of disease called ‘Sikatoka’ in the banana crop has increased despite the spraying of expensive drugs. Due to this disease, banana trunks and green leaves are drying up, so that the production of the crop is not good. Farmers are getting ruined due to epidemic on one hand and low prices received by traders on the other.

In such dire situation, if there is unseasonal rain now, the remaining hope of the farmers will be washed away. According to farmers Maheshbhai Vasava and Jashubhai Patel, the world is currently in a dire situation of “jaye to jaye kaha”.
