Yuzvendra Chahal isn’t holding back in attacking his former wife, Dhanashree Verma, indirectly on social media. Cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has once again found himself at the centre of a social media storm — and this time too, it’s about his veiled dig at his ex-wife and the alleged alimony he has to pay to her after their divorce.
Cricketer Shikhar Dhawan took to Instagram recently to share glimpses from his family’s Diwali and Bhai Dooj celebrations. Yuzvendra Chahal commented, “There is copyright on your pose but brother, 4 crores only.” Shikhar also joined the banter and wrote, “Deal pakki.”
This comes amid Yuzendra’s latest dig at Dhanashree. The Indian leg-spinner’s recent Instagram story triggered widespread speculation that he took a veiled dig at his ex-wife, Dhanashree Verma, while seemingly referencing a Delhi High Court ruling. Chahal shared a screenshot of a court verdict that read, “Financially independent wives cannot demand alimony from their husbands.”
Alongside it, he wrote, “Maa Kasam Khao Nahi Paltoge iss Decision Seh,” which translates to, “Swear on your mother you won’t go back on this decision.” The post, though deleted shortly after, went viral instantly, with fans debating whether it was aimed at Dhanashree or simply his way of endorsing the court’s stance.
Chahal’s post comes months after his much-talked-about separation from choreographer and influencer Dhanashree Verma. The two, who tied the knot in December 2020, were one of cricket’s most-followed couples before their split in March this year following proceedings at the Bombay High Court. Reports at the time suggested a settlement of around Rs 4 crore, though neither party officially confirmed the figure.
However, during her appearance on Rise and Fall, Dhanashree clarified, “Officially, it has been almost a year. It happened quickly because it was mutual, that’s why when people say alimony, it’s wrong. Just because I am not saying anything, you will go on saying anything? My parents have taught me to only justify to people whom I care about. Why waste time explaining those who don’t even know you?”
Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma tied the knot in 2020 in a lavish wedding attended by several cricketing legends. However, after four years of marriage, their relationship came under public scrutiny, leading to one of the most talked-about divorces in the sports and entertainment industry. The couple filed for divorce in February 2024, with the separation finalised earlier this year.
