BJP leader and senior actor Mithun Chakraborty was relieved from the High Court in the comments made at the IZCC. Under the direction of Justice Shubhra Ghosh, the FIR filed at Bidhannagar South Police Station has been suspended. As a result, the police will not be able to conduct any investigation against Mithun. The next hearing will be held on May 25.
In the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in November last year, Mithun addressed the BJP’s collection meeting at the Eastern Zonal Cultural Center in Kolkata. At that time, some of his comments were alleged to be provocative, which is claimed that the law and order could be degraded. In the wake of this, a man named Kaushik Saha filed an FIR at Bidhannagar South Police Station, where Mithun was charged under section 5 of the BNS Act.
In the same context, a complaint was also filed at the Babazar police station of the Kolkata Police. Mithun went to the Calcutta High Court demanding the dismissal of the FIR. Finally, Mithun Chakraborty got some relief in the case due to the suspension of the High Court. However, the future of the case will be determined at the next hearing.
