This was something that Nick Monroe was impressed with, as he reviewed Tsitsipas’ performance on Tennis Channel’s podcast.
“Tsitsipas, it’s good to have him back on the court,” said Monroe. “He lost first round in Australian Open to Michelsen and then on his Instagram he was talking about how he went back to Athens and got back to his roots, practicing with his brother.
“He had that all court game here did Tsitsipas. He was serving and volleying. Did not face any break points throughout this match and only lost four points in his first serve.
“He has also talked about how he feels he is getting a lot of spin on his shots and being able to push his opponents around a little bit more. I think that’s what he was able to do in this match and Mayot just wasn’t able to get a grip on his movement on the court. Tsitsipas looked really good in this match.”
