Hyderabad: The State Board of Technical Education and Training (SBTET) on Tuesday released the Polytechnic Common Entrance Test (POLYCET) 2025 schedule with online registration commencing from Wednesday. The registration can be done with a fee of Rs 500 (Rs 250 for SC and ST) up to April 19.
The last date for registration with a late fee of Rs 100 and Rs 300 is April 21 and 23 respectively. The entrance test for admissions to engineering and non-engineering diploma courses offered by SBTET, PJTAU, Skltghu and Pvnvu will be conducted on May 13 and results will be declared 12 days after the test. Meanwhile, the State government on Monday issued an order allocating majority seats in the polytechnics to Telangana locals only from the academic year 2025-26. As per GO Ms 16, 85 per cent of the seats in diploma programmes in the State will be for local candidates of the Osmania University area.
The remaining 15 per cent of seats will be unreserved and all candidates declared as locals in the OR area are eligible for this category. Candidates who resided in the State for a period of 10 years, excluding period of study outside the State, or either of parents who resided in the State for a period of 10 years, excluding employment periods outside the State, are eligible for unreserved quota seats.
According to the order, students who are children of parents who are employed in the State or Central government, public sector corporations, local bodies, universities and other similar quasi-public institutions within the State will be eligible for unreserved quota.
In addition, candidates who are spouses of those employed with the State or Central government, public sector corporations, local bodies, universities and educational institutions recognised by the government and other quasi-government institutions in the State can claim for seats under unreserved quota.
The government has come up with the new rules as the common admissions between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States for a period 10 years as mandated in the AP Reorganisation Act 2014 concluded this academic year.
